Regular meeting of the Palouse Hills Amateur Radio Club, Aug 23, 2011.

KI6DER, called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. at the American Legion cabin in Moscow.

Present: Chris (KF7HXJ), Don (KF7ETS), Elizabeth (KK7VO), Steven (KD7KKC), Tom (KI6DER), Doug (KF7IEL), Jim (N7RCS), Matt (KF7QQX), and Geoff KC7QCS.

The minutes of the July 27 meeting were approved as distributed (M: KC7QCS, S: KF7HXJ).

Treasurer KD7JBX was unable to attend, but reported that the bank balance remains at 2183.09. KC7QCS reported that he still holds
$20.00 for dues from KD7VRL and N7SIF. KI6DER reported unreimbursed expenses of $35 for the PHARC web page, $13.30 for the club vanity
call sign request, and $12.00 for the PHARC internet domain registration.

OLD BUSINESS:

KI6DER reported that the club vanity call sign request was sent and the check was cashed, but no call sign has yet been assigned.

KI6DER reported that KF7HXJ’s presentation at the Latah County Local Emergency Planning Committee was well received. It provoked interest
from the Moscow Police Department (they have a trailer) and Moscow Volunteer Fire Department (interested in the switch to narrow band).

The amended by-laws that provide for the change in election date were unanimously approved.

The Thunder on the Snake jet boat races are coming this weekend and hams are desperately needed for safety communication. The races are Saturday and Sunday with a safety meeting Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Clearwater Casino Campground. If you can help, contact n7ubo@msn.com.

KI6DER sold the last ten Spokane Hamfest raffle tickets of the PHARC allocation of 100.

NEW BUSINESS

KI6DER, KFFIEL, KF7QQX, KF7HXJ and KF7GWY are some of the students in the recently-started CERT class in Latah County.

KI6DER reported that PHARC has been asked to set up a demonstration station at the Palouse Empire Fair near Colfax September 8-11. He will soon be recruiting people to work the Whitman County communications trailer.

KC7QCS reported that the Latah County SAR Council may soon have some older 2m handheld transceivers for loan to the club.

The meeting adjourned at 7:56 by common consent. It was followed by a demonstration of building a two-meter J-pole from copper pipe by KF7IEL. The next meeting will be Wednesday September 28, at the American Legion Cabin.
